replacement plants in part shade area

I had a xeric landscape put in last fall, and most of the bushes that were put in are dying or dead. I think they don't get enough sun. Anyway, I am looking to replace with something else.

So, I need two (plants or bushes) that are a small mound in shape (these are replacing some dwarf rounded evergreen bushes)and something else that can be flowering or not, that isn't a spreader/groundcover. Also, shouldn't be grasses because I already have those in that area. The key is xeric and tolerate part-shade from a large canopy tree (honey locust).

suggestions are welcome.
