 o
ocotillo fencing or trade?

I have been reading about ocotillo and would like to try some and maybe make a fence with it. Has anyone here done this type of fence?

RE: ocotillo fencing or trade?

It's a Sonoran desert plant. I know some people use it as a fence in Arizona. But they seem to do all right here.

If you find a local source, let me know. I've tried getting seeds I bought online to germinate with no success.

I have an ocotillo here (& the City has begun planting them on some dividers) & was told that one can take cuttings of the canes & stick them in the ground for an ocotillo fence. Mine is too precious yet to try it though!

RE: ocotillo fencing or trade? Living fence

I meant to add that the cuttings stuck in the ground would grow & make a living ocotillo fence.
