We live in the Edgewood, NM area and have some plants blooming now that I can't identify; please help. (1)One plant is upright with a canopy of bright, yellow flowers whose petals are about a 1/4" wide, leaves narrow. H20 & Soil Conser. Ser. people identified it as a mustard but I don't think so. (2)Another plant is similar, upright with a canopy of white flowers, not so wide petals, leaves narrow. Don't know if these are native.

The first might be Four-wing salt bush, which I asked about on this forum awhile ago. Dsrtlvr supplied the name for me.

The other might be Spectacle Pod.

lorna, thanks for the id's; the 2nd id appears to be correct; the 1st id doesn't appear to be 4wing; the plant is probably an annual and maybe is a mustard.

Lorna is correct on both: the first one is definitely a Four Wing Salt Bush, something which grows wildly in abundance in Southern NM where I garden. They are partcularly beautiful this summer with all the "monsoonal" moisture we have had......
