Sap all over young nectarine tree

Planted fairly young nectarine tree this spring. Over the last couple months tree has broken out with sap makings all over trunk and some main branches, The tree gets a fair amount of sun, but also seems to get enough water, with new growth all over. I don't see any of the tell tale signs of borers(no signs of exit holes when sap is pulled off) Any ideas of what it could be?
