Need fast growing plants for privacy

Hello. We have 15 beautiful oleander surrounding our pool and giving us privacy from our neighbors. I've been growing them for 3 years and am so happy with how big and beautiful they have become.

I'm afraid that they may have oleander leaf scorch, a new disease that is taking the lives of oleander in this area (central Texas).

Can anyone recommend a replacement? I was thinking Red-tip Photinia but just read an article that those too are in trouble in this area.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

If you liked oleander, arizona rosewood would be an excellent alternative. It's evergeen and good around pools. Although it's slow to start at first.

RE: Drought & Wind Resistant Plant Suggestions?

I'm new to Roswell from Canada, and have found the winds realllly strong. I assume that this and the drought will have a considerable effect on the types of plants that will survive. I currently have virtually no landscaping at my house with the exception of a pond and grass.

I need suggestions for a fast growing wind/privacy break to about 6 ft. height, along with plantings that will survive the area.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Crepe myrtle is a good choice with beautiful blooms all summer in Roswell.
