Help! ID this weed & how to get rid of it

Hello: this weed is quickly taking over my back yard ! Can someone help ? Use salt ? vinegar ?

It looks like nut sedge to me. There are a few herbicides specifically for it. I used one once and had pretty good success with it, but do not rememeber what it was. I'm sure you can find something for it at your local garden center, or Home depot/lowe's type of place.

Whatever you do, don't let it go to seed!

RoundUp works great if you want to go that way.

Covering it with pieces of heavy carpet, black roofing paper (tar paper) weighted down with rocks, or black plastic or landscape cloth held down with a rock or brick. The Sedge grass (nut grass) will die and compost back into the soil.

Just don't let it go to seed.
