We have just moved to Goodyear, a suburb southwest of Phoenix. In the backyard which faces north there are two Hibiscus shrubs that will never receive sun. Should I move them to a sunny spot and when should I do so?

Yes, you certainly should move it to spot with partial or full sun, otherwise they will not going to be happy ( to bloom). Now is the best time to do it, do not wait until december.

I have some hibiscus in my backyard that also faces north. They don't get any sun now, but they get their fair share in the summer. Hold off on transplanting them until you get a good idea of where the sun will be in July and August. If you have have seen where the sun is then, disregard my remarks and by all means, move them. The shade in winter won't hurt them too much. Good Luck and welcome to Arizona.
