Passiflora

Hello everyone. I am brand new to this site. But have been meaning to join a forum for ages! My question is this.. Last year I planted a passiflora on a home made arch and now it is absolutely FULL of fruit. and is flowering at the same time! Is this normal? It has completely taken over the frame and is now across the cottage doorway and over the porch. It is massive !!!The two clematis seem to be growing through it . But, I have been trying to find information on pruning etc. And found the royal horticultural society said some of these passiflora contain poison that is related to cyanide..? cyanotic . Other sites say the fruit can be used.. I am very confused by this... Any help? Thanks for your time... kind regards Berna

Has anyone responded to you. I think you might have posted this in passiflora forum.
I had a variety of this and yes it took over everything!
But the gulf frittalary catipillar lays eggs on the variety i had. So by the end of the season, the plant was naked. Sure clip it back, it will come back every spring!
Can you send me a picture? Yes it will take over the world if not pruned. Plants that arent pruned can become so heavy as to break through an arbor or even a roof. MY passion flower could be eaten no problem.

I emailed to find out what species mine was, along with a picture and here is the reply.
