Strawflower with myrtle-like leaves?

An acquaintance took a trip to France this summer, and at a nursery somewhere in the north, she took pictures of a vaguely myrtle--as in Myrtus communis--like plant with scattered blooms almost exactly like small strawflowers, in white, cream, and pink. I'm an Arizona Master Gardener, which is why she asked me how to get some for her own garden, but I had never seen anything like them! I can't find anything like them on the Internet, but that may just be because I'm not typing in the right keywords.

They were labeled "myrtles", but there was no botanical name, and the language barrier was apparently too steep to ask. She swears that the flowers were actually part of the plants. Unfortunately, I don't have the pictures in a form that I can embed.

Does anyone have any idea what they might be? I'll keep Googling, but I'm running out of keyword ideas! : /
