Should Avacado Seed be Completely Covered?

Posted by RosebudM Z-3 MN (My Page) on

Trying to find some info for my mother. She has an avacado seed and would like to try and get it to grow. She tried one with toothpicks in water, but it never did anything. I've read in posts about planting in soil.

Should the seed be completely covered over or should part of it be sticking out of the soil?

Do they need a lot of humidity? We live in northern MN which means furnaces and/or wood stoves running all winter = low humidity.

Appreciate any help you can offer.
Thanks,
Cher

Sorry, guess I am in the wrong forum. My apologies.

I've gotten all of mine to sprout when completely planted about a half inch under the soil. I planted mine during the summer and just left the pot out in the rain and filtered sun. Make sure the pointy end is up. Good Luck
