Beans, cress, marigolds, chives and borage are all easy and fun to grow.

Radishes are very easy with fast results. Peas are fun to pick, my children love them raw right out of the pod. Also beans. Carrots are easy but slow. For flowers, try sunflowers, zinnias, and nasturtiums as they germinate and grow quickly.
