Sandbox Question

We bought our 3 year old a sandbox and she loves it. The big red crab (the sandbox) in the backyard is really kinda cute to see. The only problem we have is that since we got the sandbox, our daughter seems to have a never-ending supply of bug bites on her. We keep the lawn pretty much bug free and we are thinking that it might be something in the sand (not sure what that would be). If there are some kind of little fellows living in her sandbox, how can we help them move out or at least keep them from feasting on her?

RE: Sandbox Question

I am searching the web (and elsewhere) for answers to the same problem. Any ideas how to treat the sand for insects?
