How to drain water from sandbox?

| The sandbox is on the patio and it's kept covered to try and keep animals out of it. The sand never really drys out so need ideas on how to get air flow to dry the sand.
Thinking that if its raised with a hard bottom with drainage holes the water can drain and air flow will help to dry the sand. Will it work and any more ideas to offer? |

| Is it one of those plastic sandboxes? Ours is on the grass and we drilled holes in it to drain the water which works fine. I think your right in assuming that you should raise it a bit if it's on a patio. |
