RE: Where is everyone?

My kids' garden club, newly formed, has just had the sod removed from the idyllic site we were given to use as a community garden. It's pretty exciting, but it turns out that 30% of the site is rather poor, rocky soil. We've got our work cut out for us! Last weekend we picked roots and rocks from the 'good' end, roto-tilled a small plot and planted spinach and peas. We also installed our mosaic tile paving stones that we'd made during the winter as our entry walkway and re-sodded a small area for our picnic table.

At home my littlest one and I planted peas, beans, dill, lovage, spinach, radishes and arugula today and tended our asparagus, rhubarb, strawberries, onions, garlic, shallots, mints, chives and raspberries. She had plenty of fun sowing seeds.

I've only just started visiting here.
Any day that includes sunshine and decent temperatures finds us outside doing something.

We did some winter sowing so work on transplanting the seedlings.
We are also doing some direct sowing.

I needed to make a few new beds this year so DD is fascinated with cow poop and horse poop that Mama puts on the dirt!! Course, that means a trip to the farm to feed the horses to GET the horse poop!

We made a stone path already and have another layed out. We collect "flat" stones to use in a planned mosaic when we have enough.

And the list of things that we NEED to do goes on and on!

RE: Where is everyone?

I tried Winter Sowing for the first time this year with my Girl Scout troop. They enjoyed it and were very happy when they got to take home seedlings in May! As for my kids, they basically think I'm crazy. My 12 year-old asked me to stop discussing my Wildlife Habitat on the sidelines at her soccer games, because she found it DISTRACTING! :-)
