Gardening with Kids

sunflower seed planting help!

So I planted sunflowers with my kids from the $1 buzzy grow kits from target. They have started sprouting but the seed is coming out of the earth. Is that normal? I have added a picture so you can see what I mean. If it's not supposed to grow that way what can I do to save them??

Don't worry. When the plant gets bigger, it should push the seed coat off. Though it looks like you have more than one or two seeds in that little pot. Are you going to plant them in the ground later? If not, you'll need a bigger pot with more soil, definitely. :)
