I have just received a package in the mail about a product named Gardening Made Easy. It would appear that it is a complete guide to gardening.

I was wondering if anybody out there has seen this before, and if so whether or not it is any good. It really does seem to offer a lot.

I'd be very greatful for any information on this guide, or any other.

Thankyou in advance.

Michael

I want to follow up on that last comment. The Gardening Made Easy kit that I collected does sound like the one you mentioned Clare, but I must disagree with it being expensive. The beauty of this kit was that I didn't have to outlay a chunk of money to get a complete encyclopedia, but only a few dollars every couple of weeks. Now I agree, that after a while, the cost builds up, but for the amount of information I got, and learnt, I think it was more than worth the value.

I hope this helps you out Michael, even if it is a bit late.

I would think twice about the Gardening Made Easy book. By the time you get the complete book it is about $300. The cards are sent out in a disorganized fashion and when you are done getting the cards if there are any missing the company is very difficult to work with to get things cleared up. I did not get my index and card # 11 for one of the sections and I have had no end of trouble trying to get my set completed. Needless to say after spending that much money I do feel the set should be complete. It is a lovely book but I think you could find something equally as good in a bookstore section on horticulture.

Michael, it looks like I found an old thread...
I have the gardening made easy books. We had to take some serious budget cuts, so I had to cancel before completing the set, but I have 4 of the 6 binders.
Yes, in the long run they are very expensive, just looking at a total figure. BUT the way it worked for us was that any half way decent book was 40.00 and up, which I couldn't afford...but 5.00 a month was something I could manage. I started out with that, then later decided to get 3 packages each month to speed things up. That is an option the company offers, and you still only pay shipping for one pack, so it saves you 4.00 on each 3-pack you receive.
I automatically received a new binder at no extra charge when one got full. When money got tight and I got behind on a payment, it wasn't a problem, they kept sending the cards and I payed up as soon as I could.
If a binder breaks, let them know and you get a replacement.
And when I did cancel, I asked and was told that they do keep a file and I can pick up where I left off anytime in the future...so I'm hoping to be able to start back up this summer to complete our set.
I'm a beginner at gardening and absolutely LOVE that collection. Wouldn't part with it for nothing. It's very organized, detailed, and easy to understand because of plain english!
I RECOMMEND IT!
Also...if you are registered on ebay, do a search there. You can often find 2 to 4 of those binders for 50.00 and less, plus shipping. But of course if you do that, be prepared to have a hard time later on to fill the set.
I think once or twice I've seen the entire collection go on ebay for around 100.00 plus shipping, but they don't come up very often. Either way you go, even if you order from the company, your money is well invested!

Does anyone have a phone # or email address for this company? I paid off a bill with them over a year ago and yesterday I got a bill from a collection agency saying I owed Gardening Made Easy almost $100 !!!!!!!

The url www.gardeningmadeeasy.com doesn't seem to work any longer SOO I don't know how to get in touch with them (sigh).

Here is a link that might be useful: Racing Seat

go to your local extension service. You should be able to find them in the government pages under county.

At my office we have the same thing... except it is free. come by occasionally and pick up upto 10 factsheets free. Put them into a cheap three ring binder. You also get the benefit of localized information. Can't beat it.

I am the local extension horticulture educator so I am biased.

A good question and good follow-ups!! Had seen at the Readers' Digest home page, that they have wonderful books on gardening. In fact, one is being sold there, "1001 Hints and Tips" for Rs.1099/- only. Looks good!

Please have a look here : Readers Digest
