Laurel hedge, do not or do less trimming

Dear reader,

When I drive through the Netherlands or Germany I see a lot of laurel hedges (in German; Kirschlorbeer Hecke, in Dutsch Laurier haag). In april and may they should all be in bloom but they actually never are ! People sadly trim them too much and too late in the year. You should never trim after June. And even better, try to miss out trimming a year now and then. This way you get a Laurel Hedge as it is ment to be with large and smelling white flowers. Exactly the same can be said for Photinia fraserii red robin.
