Suitable water feature.
Two grandparents (male=65 and has difficulty walking, female=60) want a water feature in their garden (30metres by 15metres). They wish to sit by it and enjoy a drink in the evenings. The 'catch' is that they look after two grand-children two days per week (aged 4 and 6). Any suggestions? I was thinking in terms of a raised pond with galvanised steel grill painted black situated just below the surface and sturdy enough for a kid to walk on (if one of these kids ever climbed up).Would it be possible to have any sound of running water (eg. waterfall flowing into the pond, fountain, etc.)? |

| I think that sounds perfect. It will be safe for the children and once they grow up alittle they will be more responsible. I think it would be ok to have a little waterfall in the back maybe. |

| Another way to do it is to have a fountain that splashes onto a basin or pool that is entirely filled with rocks. You'd use a recirculating pump for this. So you get to see water falling, and the water sound, but there is no open water for the kids to get into. Later when they are older you can remove the rocks and have an actual pool again. |

| Thats what I was going to say. I know someone who did this. The rocks were good sized, say like oranges give or take. Water made a wonderful deep bubbling sound like a brook. I would like one myself. joanne |
