Closeup, kinda.

Ok, well, I heard a request for closer pics. This one's a close up of the left side of the tank. I was avoiding posting a closer one, because of how inaccurate it will be with all the additions and movements within the tank, but it'll hopefully indulge you :P lol. I try to let it go as natural as possible; dead leaves lay where they fall, etc. The only thing I do is take out any large completely dead plants (none so far) and dead mushrooms, because they tend to pop up right next to the Dischidia, die, and then fall over and cover it in a gooey mess. As for inhabitants, the only one in there right now is a male N. guentheri killiefish that dominates the water area. I'm looking high and low for a pair of Dendrobates pumilio or reticulatus, MAYBE two pairs if the price is right. So if you know anyone who has any, TELL ME!!

That looks really good to me, what is that on the bottom? looks like good old fashion grass! Let me know as I am basically a nooby =)

Good old java moss. Seems to grow anywhere I place it. You'll see how far it's spread when I get my new pictures in the next week or two.

Great job!! I'd be interested to hear about what your substrate setup is.

Substrate is simple: coir. Nothing but that nice, ground up coconut stuff that we sell at the pet store I work at in the expanding bricks. The surface is then covered in dead sphagnum moss and dead schefflera (spelling?) leaves, which after the first few weeks really blend in to give a natural look. If you want to actually get into the entire layering though, it's a false bottom, supported on plastic eggcrate, followed by a layer of fiberglass window screening, then coconut mat material used for hanging baskets to keep pretty much any of the bedding from falling through.

Looks great! check out kingsnake.com or dendroboard for the PDF. there are always people selling, or you can place a want ad.
