I kept some dart frogs in a tank up until a year ago. The tank is set up with a false bottom. I had moss on top of eggcrate plastic. The tank was fully covered with a plastic sheet and had some Pothos growing. It also had another small leaved plant growing that seeded itself a few years ago.

When I got rid of the frogs I just put the tank on basement floor below a light stand. too busy to clean it out. It got almost no light and no water.

A year later the tank is still as good as new. The plants have not grown too much, but all are healthy and green. There was still water in the bottom under the false bottom.

There is a very small white insect present - just a speck in size - not sure what they are.

I expect that this tank would last another couple of years with no attention.
