Also what is the best background to use?

you can buy cork bark panels from blackjungle to fit your dimensions, that would probably be the easiest. I am constructing a vivarium now, and a lot of people use this method, you place your wood, pots, whatever on the back of the glass and then cover with Great Stuff (expandable foam), then when that dries you put silicone (GE II, bronze color if you can find it, make sure it does not contain mold inhibitor) over that and place something in the silicone before it dries. Choices are bark, gravel, aquarium sand, anything really to make it have a background. It will give you a very nice, natural looking background, and you can put air plants on the branches that you have sticking out of the background. That is what I am doing with mine.

Hi, I found that the black or brown silicone works better as you are bound to miss covering some spots with coco fiber (my personal favorite!) and if the silicone shows through it will look like brown/black soil, dont forget to place all your pots/driftwood/vines and so on where you want them before applying the foam, also, if you do end up doing expanding foam be sure to let the foam cure for at least a week before you start to apply the silicone, starting from the bottom, applying silicone in small patches (around 10" x 10") not all at once because it will skin over very quickly, so, small patch of silicone, apply coco fiber, small patch of silicone, apply coco fiber, keep this up and you will be done in no time. =)
