| I'm confused, I keep reading that bromeliads are air plants. Are they all that way? I've seen terrarium pictures where they are planted in the soil and have water poured into them, and frogs get in the water. I bought some bromeliads at wal-mart that were planted in moist soil, and the directions said to keep the soil moist. Of course wal-mart directions don't mean anything, they are always wrong on the VFT directions. |

| I can understand your confusion. In reality, most of the commonly available broms can be planted either way (epiphytically or terrestrailly). |

| There are many different types of Bromeliads that grow in all different types of environments. The commonly available plants are mostly epiphytic and are often grown in soiless mixes like Pro Mix. If you don't have a lot of space look for the smaller terrestrial Cryptanthus species. This site is great and has lots of photos. |
