New Viv

Hi guys, I've been hanging around this site for quite awhile, doing alot of reading. I've been building a viv in a 55gal aquarium. It's taken a couple of months but it's finally starting to look like a viv. I have a false bottom with a waterfall going into a small pond and a tree fern back round with water also flowing down it from some plastic tubing with holes drilled into it at several different places. I just recieved my combo slider hood from zoomed and it was trashed, it was bent up and falling apart, I tried to fix it up, but when I turned it on it kept blowing my circuit breaker. I'm sending it back for a replacement and trying to get them to cover the shipping, which they don't want to do. I've had the waterfall and water wall running for about two weeks and have noticed mold starting to grow on some of my wood and tree fern backround. I wired up a cpu fan and just laid it on the screen top thats inplace until I get the replacement hood. Do you think this will take care of the mold, or maybe it's the lack of light. I was thinking that maybe after I add some plants that might also help. I'll post some pics as soon as I figure out how.
