faux bonsai? Have you done much in the way of shaping them?

I know what ya mean about the bonsai "purists". Some of them [though not all] are quite snobby about what constitutes a 'real' bonsai. [Big part of the reason I won't bother to post this over there]

Here's a pic of mine -- the one I potted up in sphag as you recommended. The truly "lazy man's" attempt.

The 'wind-swept' look was achieved w/o any wiring. I just kept it positioned so that the same side was always facing the window and it grew in that direction. As I said, the truly lazy way of doing a bonsai ... LOL. Would sorta like to shape it up a little bit but really have no idea what would "look best" ... & be easy

Well I'll really have to dig lol I got sidetracked into several other projects and only have 3 of the sphag dwarfs left. All have become part of the "seep wall" so the two ficus are also water cultured.
The oldest, a Caliandra, is in full flower right now have maintained it since 82 and is still under 3 feet.
You can follow all the Bonsai rules I mean "laws Lol
just ignore potting methods.lol The tough part is deciding what to do .
May have to send the pix directly to you as i'm computer challenged and WAAAYYY to old to learn lol i do have them all on disc now. gary

Boy, I had to do alot of digging lol. Finally found one of the dwarfed Calliandra,. Was taken in03 when it was at the small fish pool If you're still interested i could send it directly to you as it's on disc. gary

Gary, have you tried photobucket as a web album. Besides being free, it is very easy to use.
