Selaginella Identification

Jeffrey Schneider

Hello!

I keep returning to stores in hopes of finding Selaginella. I haven't had much luck lately and was wondering if anyone could help me identify two species so that I might order online.

I have often found a chartreuse-colored variety (see below)... very low growing (less than 1/2 inch). I believe it may be Selaginella kraussiana aurea?

I have also purchased a darker, evergreen-colored variety of Selaginella (photoshopped to approximate color below). Both Seliginellas appear identical, except in color... height... low growing, same leaves, etc.

However, the DARKER GREEN VARIETY SEEMS MUCH MORE HARDY.

Does anyone have any idea what this darker variety might be? I've been waiting to get a pot so I can photograph it and post here, but the nurseries haven't had it for some time.

Thank you!

Jeff
