i ahve alway loved pdf's, but refused to accept them as a pet trade item due to toxicity. i never knew that it was their diet that produced it, or that they would be nontoxic, as it were, and could survive on an alternative diet. duh, it only makes sense. thanks for bringing me out of my ignorance!
fairy_toadmother: Don't feel bad.... I love little frogs, but was worried about their poison too, now a lot of people know, the article was in the Newsweek Magazine. Ana :)
i went to see that exhibit last week, it was really cool, there were some really cool terrariums. on most of the tanks they somehow built large bases of trees as the background to make it look realistic.
I own a black with 2 orange stripes poison dart frog. When I got her last summer, my mother asked me to ask the vendor if it was a poisonous frog. Mine stays hidden a lot since she's one of the more shy frogs. Unfortunately, I found out that online, the only vendors that sell the type I have are the ones in which the gender is unknown of at the time and are $75 (lowest price) to $85 (highest price) each plus $50 overnight shipping ($85 if an airplane needs to be involved). So I will be saving up for some time before I can afford to get my frog, Rain, a frog friend. I might visit that museum during the winter break this year if the airfares are affordable.
