Native woodland plants

I love terrariums, and in the past I had one that I was able to sustain for about 2 years with minimal "tinkering"...but it's been awhile, and I'm thinking about a new endeavor:

I'm moving. I'd like to make a medium-sized terrarium in a ginger or apothecary jar, using a few little plants like mosses, wintergreen, etc., from my current wooded property. This terrarium will be in a north-facing sitting room, in a window, with many cottage-themed heirlooms. This room tends to be cooler than the rest of the house, but still within the normal bounds of indoor comfort.

Any suggestions for other Upper Midwest woodland plant species that might do well in this little ecosystem (especially medium or tallish plants for the vertical space)?
