Tired of my plants being eaten

I have a 29 gallon aquarium which I used to house fish in until I moved them up to a 55 gallon. I've been trying to use the 29 gallon as a terrarium for plants for about a year and a half now, but everything I put in eventually gets eaten. I can see what looks like snail tracks along the walls when the humidity is high, and I also see little skinny worm things along the walls which I wipe off when I see them. Any ideas to get rid of these pests? Thanks

Hi all, I hope you are having a good holiday season. Today I was sifting through some European sites and came across an interesting idea.
How many of you have ever had a pest infestation inside one of you vivs (ants, millipedes, slugs...)? Here's a method that might work to completely eliminate them:

1) remove all animals (that you want to survive) from the viv

2) get a big chunk of dry ice, put it in a bowl of hot water, and place the bowl in the viv

3) completely seal off the viv and wait

So...all the beasties die from CO2 poisoning, without adding any harmful chemicals to the vivarium.

The idea behind this method is CO2 production. There are many other ways to create the same effect, such as CO2 canisters, vinegar and baking soda, yeast and sugar...

What do you all think? I'm not sure it would work with some of the peskier creatures (like cockroaches), but it's definitely something to try before you strip the entire viv down and start over again.

I've tried it once. Had mixed success. Goal was to wipe out the snail population. It did seem like I had fewer of the slimy monsters but still found a large one the day after treatment. This could simply mean that that individual had been holed up in an oxygen rich air pocket during the treatment. Still working on getting my new terr together. Once I do, I plan on repeating treatment by removing plants, placing them in a separate large container & putting the dry ice in the container. The contents of the old terr will then later be removed and perhaps roasted in the oven to sterilize & be used elsewhere. Media in new tank will be fresh/sterile.
