I think I am going to go with this light setup.

They have the 4 55Watt setup that looks very nice. What does everyone think? Remember I have to stay under 2 feet in length. The bulbs are kind of expensive anyone know where I can get them cheaper? |

| I think that's an expensive solution, but if you have the money, and need the high amount of lumens they can provide, go for it. From the link that Homer posted, the same company, Hello lights, sells 55W bulbs for like $22 each. http://www.hellolights.com/55watts.html Just make sure you get the right base on the lights you order. | Yea sam I agree is does seem expensive but I come from a saltwater community and expensive is jut part of the hobby. Im not for sure what lights im going with yet. I kind of had to delay buying the wood because Ive been so busy with work. I hope I can start this maybe by next week (fingers crossed!) |

| rod: just because you are used to lights being expensive doesn't mean they have to be! With saltwater tanks, there really is no way around it because you need such specialized bulbs. The only way to cut costs is if you are an electrician or know one personally. However, with terrariums, many people make their own simple light fixtures that are just fine. So don't automatically look for a high price tag. You don't need lights of such intensity because the light only has to penetrate air, not water (water blocks a lot of light). And plants don't really die with insufficient light like corals do. They may get leggy or loose a bit of variegation, but that is in quite low light levels indeed (depending on the plant of course). Most of us are using normal bulbs that one can buy from Home Depot. Don't get too fancy or too expensive, or you may end up hating the terrarium hobby. |
