My Miniature Terrascape

keithgh

I started this Terrascape some time back but there were several hold ups along the way.
This what I started out with a used 45lt bay front aquarium tank.

This is the Terrascape today once I got started it took me just over 12 months to finish it and reach the standard I was looking for.

My next project will be a 5ft aquarium tank all I have to do first is re home all my fish and plants.

It will be a similar design trying to make it look like nature under glass.

I would love your comments please.

Sorry about the photos they did not post from Photobucket

Keith

Sorry for some reason I cannot post the first photo.
If this does not work how do I post a photo from Photobucket?

Nice tillies you have there, Keith!

The reason you are having issues posting pics from Photobucket is that you are trying to use the wrong format. GW utilizes a rather archaic programing format. (It happens to be a very old forum.) As such, it is unable to recognize IMG code. Instead you must use the HTML links which Photobucket also provides in their Photo Link options.

Particularly with your next project, you will need to install fans to circulate the air within the tank. Standard PC fans work very well and are very cheap, IME.

OK I give up I cannot find that link any where

I wish I knew how I posted the first photo.

Finally photo posted, this is what I started with its a 45lt bay window fish tank.

There were several major changes along the way and finally I achieved this what I call a beautiful Terrascape.

I would appreciate more comments please,

    Keith.

Ah finally found the desired link, eh?

With a 5ft tank, I'd still suggest fans even if it is not fully enclosed. The more enclosed it is, the more easily higher humidity levels will be maintained -- should you go with plants that desire such.

What will you be using for lighting?

I will using a twin 4ft Aquarium light with a plant and a daylight tube.

If they grow plants under water they will grow the plants in the tank.

Lately I have seen shiny trails outside of the Terrascape plus, one small dead snail shell.

I have also had a few pieces of paper chewed on.

I set up a little trap to see if I could find the culprit/s I used a small piece of paper that had chew marks on it plus one snail pellet.

Next morning this is what I found, that is some of the chewed paper it was feeding on.

I have left the baits in the same place to see if there are any more nasties.

Next day no nasties or shiny trails, lets hope it stays like that.

That they should. It's always one of the first things I inquire about as I find that many folks grossly underestimate plants' lighting needs.

Never had slugs befoul my terrs. Now those vile bush snails on the other hand .....

Update on Grubs all gone bait not touched at all now

Finally its happening I have three spikes I have no idea how I missed them considering the tank is next to the monitor plus I mist every morning.
The third spike is harder to find its on the top RH side Till and not as big as the other two spikes

    {{gwi:2131698}}

Because we have had a few very hot days and nights I have been misting them a bit more every morning, the medium below is very moist possibly helping with the humidity.

Can I assume that they will flower during the Australian Summer Months

I hope I have named them correctly.

Did you say you have moss in this creation of yours ?

Where did you get it from ?

Yes I sure have its in the bottom LH side.

I have it growing in a pot in the fernery that had a maiden hair fern in.

Bunnings have plenty of ferns/mosses in little pots but mine is just a moss that grew on top of the soil in the pot.

I guess you would agree that the Tillandsia and the moss have similar water needs ?

I will check out Bunnings thanks.
