New Vivarium - need help

Posted by sanantoniorose z8STX (My Page) on

I have a new vivarium (new to me). It's a 30 gal. Oceanic cube with a false bottom pump which I presume operates the waterfall. My question is: There is another pump inside the stand with a splitter with two tubes. The tubes run up to the top of the vivarium and into it and drop down into the space where you add the water. I accidently dislodged the tubes and don't understand where they go.

If they just drop down into the water, what purpose would that serve? They would be like airstones. I can't contact the guy I bought it from who moved out of state. Can anyone help?

Could have went to bubble stones. Sounds like a hydroponic setup of sorts. Got any pictures?

Thanks taz, I can't see why there would be airstones in the water where the pump is??? Besides there are no airstones connected - I thought maybe one goes into the false cork back wall to keep it wet. Here is one not so very good fuzzy picture.

Here is a link that might be useful: Looking down from top of vivarium

I'm lost. I don't see how anything would benefit unless the air was released under the root system of the plants.
