What lights are you using (and are you happy with them)?

I'm finishing up my plans for a large terrarium, and would like to get some feedback from you guys as to what light system you're using and how well it's working for you. My tank will contain the usual suspects.

I'm weary about T5's because it may be overkill and may heat up the tank too much. It's probably between T8's with grow lights or compact fluorescents. I'm overwhelmed with the choices available and welcome your suggestions.
Thanks!

One of my 10 gal. terrs is a former fish tank that came with a light (tank, light, full hood, fake plants, heater, and filter from a garage sale for $10; though I'm not using the fake plants, heater, and filter), so I'm just using that. for my other 10 gal., I just use an 18" under-cabinet fluorescent light from WalMart that is propped up on a few popsicle sticks. I am happy with both of them, though when the light on the first one burns out, I will be getting one that has a better color balance for plants: this one seems to be a tad purple.

t-5's produce more light for heat than T-8's so if you add fewer T-5's you get less heat and a lower bill, the lamps also last a good deal longer.
