I've had a cryptanthus for a few years now - it is finally producing decent-sized offsets. I've always grown it in a small pot by iteself, but was toying with the idea of moving into a small terrarium I was using to grow sundews. Have any of you had problems growing cryptanthus in live sphagum in an enclosed terrarium?

They grow very well in my set up as long as I let the soil dry out a bit between waterings, I think they will eventully die in live sphagum as the sphagum has to be kept moist, to moist maybe for the crytanthus, they do look great mounted! Hop on over to google images and type in cryptanthus, youll see a couple pics of them in terrariums, the look great!

I was afraid it would be too moist. Which media do you use? I was thinking about setting up a small terrarium just for the cryptanthus, perhaps with perlite and some coir?

I just dig a hole in the background or where ever I think would be a good spot for it to grow, then I just remove the plant soil and all and drop it into the hole =)
