Welcome to the forum it is always nice to get new members. I am a newbie as well and I have just finished building my first terrarium. the info here is amazing and everyone is extremely helpful. if you have any questions feel free to ask I will answer to the best of my abilities and I am sure the other members will as well.

I agree with you, I've been looking for a good book on terrariums and finally found one at Barnes and Noble. I ordered and I'll let you know if is worth it.
Meanwhile, you can go to Google and type plant terrarium, they have lots of ideas for plants, landscaping, etc.
Now, when you are ready to order or buy plants, take a look at Black Jungle, they have some awesome plants, bark, rocks, etc. at a reasonable price.
Another place that I ordered from was Rob's Violets, really nice plants and they come in very good condition.
I couldn't order from Black Jungle because they don't ship to Guam, we require a phyto certificate and they don't provide it.

Hi, and welcome! I also have yet to find a good book on terrariums. There are a few suggestions on the FAQ, but I haven't read any of them, so I can't comment there. The best info. I've found so far has been on the Internet, as the others have said, and most of it has been here! Black Jungle has a good photo tutorial on setting up a kind of paludarium with a very shallow water pond. Another good site is www.poison-frogs.com. Mostly about keeping PDFs, but also has photos with journalling on how the guy set up his massive tank. You don't need to do anything as complicated as he did (with substrate heating cable, etc.), but it does give some good basic ideas as well. Have fun making your terrarium! They are highly addictive. . . =)
