difficult desert terrarium

Hello,

I'm going to try to attempt to create a desert terrarium out of an empty Patron tequila bottle (750 mL). However, I have a couple issues with this possible plan.

1.) The mouth of the bottle is rather narrow. I'd want to include cacti, as well as succulents (preferably Haworthia attenuata if possible). I've read up on using a wire hanger, but the mouth of the bottle is a little smaller than the size of a quarter.

2.) Since the mouth of the bottle is so small, I'm afraid the humidity inside the bottle may be too much for desert plants. Obviously I could leave the bottle uncapped, but I would hate to do all the work just to be wrong.

Any help, comments, questions, etc.?? Thank you in advance.

Aren't terrariums always an experiment lol?? Desert types in my experience are the most difficult Some succulents are VERY tough though. Humidity is always a problem no matter the container. . Most cacti, succulents require high light levels as well as low humidity, got a good system to provide light??
Will be curious to see what others suggest!! gary

An experiment indeed -- though one with a low probability of success. As Gary mentioned, most desert types require a great deal of light. Sunlight is out as that would result in a cooked plant under those conditions. Humidity would be the other main issue as it would be very challenging, I would think, to keep it low. If you do decide to give it a go, I would say don't spend a lot on the plant(s) you decide to put in there and use a media with little water retention ability. If it works out, make sure you let us know!

I like the idea. Not sure how well it will work though. Maybe if you put in lots of gravel and keep it in a sunny window. I have a miniature aloe, that looks like an agave, it would be terrific in a tequila bottle. I may have to give this a try myself!
