Wham! Something hit the picture window quite hard. I looked out and there was a little chickadee laying on its side under the little table and Ellie was headed for it. I got to it first and brought it in and put it on a wash cloth in the bathtub and closed the door.

At first he wouldn't close his beak and the left wing was all spread out. Later when I approached him, he closed that wing and spread out the right wing. Later he closed his mouth, but still was not standing. I moved him and the washcloth to the floor, thinking it would not be a good thing to be down in the tub if he attempted to fly. Then I became concerned about the mirror in case he flew, so I decided to take him out of the bath and keep an eye on him. I got down low to pick him up and he flew and landed in my hair, and did #2 on the carpet at the same time. I went outside and laid my head down on the hood of the Jeep, hoping he would get out of my hair on his own. When it looked like he wasn't gonna leave his new hairy nest I started to reach up to get him out. At that time, he took off and never looked back.

Whoo-Hoo..he made it. Sorry to say, I didn't get a pic this time.

So happy for the little bird. That must have been a wonderful feeling to see him fly away .

Jerry Jeff Walker sings it best, but couldn't find an 'original' video.

Pretty song and lyrics.

The verse has a similar melody as "Blowin' in the Wind."

Forgot to mention:

Sue, you ought to post a sign on your property:

Sue's wildlife rescue and recovery.

You'd think 'rescue' if you saw all the pieces and parts of deer laying around here. The neighbors got 4 deer last weekend, and I think my dogs are dragging the leftovers home a piece at a time. The other night I looked to see what Ellie was carrying around. She had a big HUNK of lean deer meat, like a small sized roast. I am clueless why it was left along with the remains. ...kinda like throwing the baby out with the bathwater...huh?

Maybe Ellie has learned to open up their deep freeze.
