Good morning all... :) I am really excited to start my garden this year - According to the farmers almanac, 28/29 Jan are the best days this month to plant seed beds, so starting peppers Thurs, YIPPEE!!! lol Anyone else planting by the almanac?

I must be on the wrong gardening site, I thought this was Tennessee Gardening, not Florida.

lol...good one, maternut. I was thinking it's maybe the Cuba Gardening Forum? ;-) I'm hoping he is meaning those are the best dates to start peppers inside to later (mid Aprilish) be put outdoors.

Yes... planting inside :) Not a he, though :) lol

Newish to the area (first winter) and the climate site said "Almost guaranteed we will not get frost from April 8-Oct 26" in my area, so starting seeds indoors 7-9 weeks prior to last frost makes 28/29 Jan in the window. Planning on transplanting 10-12 APR, again... according to the almanac... I am new at all this, does pure math not work?

g'nut: I figured as much & i'm sure maternut did too. =) I'm quite familiar with the area and its climate, and I started 5 sets of 5 different tomato varieties this past Saturday. I'm quite confident they will be fine until I put them outdoors sometime in March (if I buy a hothouse) or April.

RE: Gardening Schedule

g'nut--Welcome--As for me, (inside) my tomato seeds will wait until mid Feb. and wait several weeks for the peppers. But I do know maternut has it going on for tomatoes (from last spring swap) !

I have mostly started (indoors) cool weather crops so far: lettuce, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, & onions.
I will start seeding some tomatos within the next couple of weeks.

Now is a great time to get some plants going indoors, in Tennessee!

farmerlon: I agree! Tax return next Friday. I'm gonna go insane like last year and probably germinate about 10 times more than I can fit in my garden...lol. =)

I am not using the Farmer's Almanac, but I did find this online tool to be useful ...

Here is a link that might be useful: Grow Guide
