Anybody inTri-Cities?

Is there anybody around with a small yard, a vegetable garden and a couple of fruit trees? It seems that people in Johnson City only grow ornamentals in their gardens and there is hardly anybody to talk to. I wonder, if any such people are around, whether they are experiencing the same problems as I do. I have been in Johnson City for 10 years and my experience resulted in a long list of things I Can't Grow. What are the easy to grow and edible plants around here?
