I bought a new Kubota tractor to start clearing my understory, ridding myself of trashy trees, and replacing them with young, more desirable trees.... and hauling mulch, etc. Now, I think I'd like to use the tractor in traditional ways, too. That is, plowing / tilling a field and growing a crop of some sort. I have only a vague idea of why a person would blow or till. In other words, I don't know how to farm a field! Is there a beginner's guide to creating a farm able plot? (including, how to remove roots and other obstructions as it is prepped?)

I am not the person to be responding to this, BUT, if you spend any amount of time in a Books a Million, there are several books on homesteading that can tell you exactly what you're asking and more. I just don't know the answer! Sorry.

Not sure if this will help, but hopefully will at least give you a direction to go. http://www.ssbtractor.com/antique-farm-lawn-garden-tractors/2008/08/ho w-to-plow-a-field/ http://www.ehow.com/how_8790361_plow-disk-field.html
