Who- The Cooper Project

What- A class about the tools and techniques used for seed starting

When- Saturday, February 16, 2008 10:00AM (until about noon)

Where- Meeting room at West Knoxville branch of Public Library. 100 Golf Club Rd., 37919 (on Kingston Pike @ the foot of Bearden Hill)

Cost- FREE!

What to bring- A pencil and paper if you want to take notes

How to sign up- Because space is very limited (only 25 spots), I'm asking that anyone interested in attending RSVP by emailing me at Ryan@thecooperproject.com

The class will feature lecture, demonstration, and a hands on look at some of the equipment and techniques for seed starting. Although it will be geared towards adults with little or no previous seed starting experience, all ages and horticultural ability levels are welcome.

Some topics to be discussed include:

I'm not from Scott County (Knox County born and raised).

I ran out of time to cover everything I wanted to cover but I think everyone learned something. In the future I think i can cut about 45 minutes off the lecture by leaving out the botany lesson about eipgeal vs. hypogeal genrmination and moncotyledons vs. dicots and so on...

I'm considering other classes this summer such as Pruning, Organics, and Integrated Pest Management, but I don't know yet. The time and money for materials required to set these classes up is a major hurdle. I'd love to keep teaching free classes but I'll go broke, and I'm not sure I'm "qualified enough" to charge admission.

Ryan, it sounds like you really covered a lot. I wish I could have made it, but I had other things I had to do. Maybe you should make a video next time. I would watch one of the seed class if you had made one. How many people showed up? How expensive are these classes to produce?

And, here's a big question for you....If you are free on the day of the East Tennessee Swap, would you consider putting on a brief class?
