 o
new to Tennessee, what do I plant and when?

Hi All,

I just moved to Nashville from the New Orleans, Louisiana area. I would love any advice or recommendations from the group. I have no idea what to plant and when!?! I've gone from Louisiana and needing to be an expert on what won't burn up and shrivel in the heat, to having a yard full of snow here in Nashville! Would love advice on seasonal grasses, when should I seed for Spring green grass and what type of grass grows well here. Also, annuals that I can plant now for color in the front flower beds. What can I plant now that can take the cold and flower into early Spring? Any help much appreciated!

The University of Tennessee Extension Service has some great guides on their website site.

Here is one link.

For garden vegetables, I have found this online resource (http://www.chestnut-sw.com/growform.htm) to be a useful guide... for when to start seeds indoors, and for when to transplant or direct-sow in the garden.
