Variegated iris

Does anyone know where I might find some variegated iris in TN; I'd rather not mail order.

Jen You might try www.iriscitygardens.com.I am very familier with them have some very beautiful iris and daylilys, They have an open house in early APRIL,trough early JULY,with potted plants for sale.I have known these people for many years.LOL PAT LOGAN

Not sure if you live around Knoxville or not, but if you do, check out the spring plant sales at Racheff Gardens, Franklin Square, Ijams, UT Arboretum, the Iris Society's booth at Blooms Day, etc. I see them at just about every sale I go to. Prices seem to vary quite a bit too. If you just want a small amount (like a fan or two) and you come to the Spring East Tennessee Plant Swap, I could probably bring you some.

I believe they are closed on Sunday.
I bought some varigated Iris(japanese) there about 3 years ago. they have spread nicely.
The lady who owns the nursery is very knowledgeable and helpful. Be prepared to shop! I usually spend at least an hour just looking around, and talking to her. A great selection of perennials and out of the ordinary annuals. Good selection of tomato plants also, but not until April.

You might also try the barn in Chatanooga.

Varnel Nursery on Hwy 11 north of Ooltewah(exit 11) about 9-10 miles should have them. Tim Davis sold the nursery a few months ago. My understanding is the new owner is operating it as a nursery.

This place is in Springfield, TN (north of Nashville).

I mail-ordered from them last year, and the customer service was incredible. Then I got the package from them and opened it up, and my jaw literally dropped. They were the healthiest, beefiest rhizomes I have ever seen. Showed Mom and she couldn't believe it either.

They probably have well over a hundred varieties on their Web site, with photos and notes about bloom times and heights.

Really, I can't say enough good about them. Very nice staff, top-quality product, reasonable prices and shipping. I know you said you didn't want to mail order, but if it's because you're concerned about quality then I can promise you that wouldn't be an issue with these folks.
