liriope spicata question

I have a question about liriope - If I understand correctly there are two different types - spicata being a running type that is very aggressive and muscari being a clumper that is less aggressive. I have the muscari and am not afraid to use it, ha! I 'think' I may have been given spicata at last year's spring swap. I'm not sure if it is l.spicata or possibly mondo grass. I currently have it in a pot, but have a couple of areas where I think I could use it, but just have that fear that it might be something I'd regret if took over my whole garden. I'd be wanting it to fill in around some large shrubs - so I 'think' it'd be good for that, but I wonder how difficult it would be to keep from spreading into the lawn. I'd love to hear your experience with it - thanks! Frances
