Awful Video Ads

Am I the only one that is getting terribly annoyed with those stupid ads every time I logon to GW? I like Planters peanuts but I hated the Bay City Rollers and that stupid Saturday Night song. Roller Disco and the first in a long line of the sickening "boy bands", please!!! C'mon Planters!

I was curious and started looking at my 1973 stash and Pink Floyd; Bob Dylan; War; Stevie Wonder; Carly Simon; Diana Ross; McCartney & Wings; Marvin Gaye; Al Green; Bowie; Aerosmith; Deep Purple; Billy Joel; George Harrison; Rolling Stones; Zeppelin; John Lennon; The Who; Steely Dan; Jim Croce; Velvet Underground; Mott the Hoople; Steve Miller, Doobie Brothers; Allman Brothers; Todd Rundgren; Moody Blues; CCR; ELO; Queen; Grand Funk; Eagles; Edgar Winter; Rod Stewart & Faces; Genesis; Uriah Heap; CDB; Van Morrison; Sly and the Family Stone; ELP; Chicago; Joe Walsh; Procol Harum; Jimmy Buffett; Jethro Tull; Fleetwood Mac; Skynyrd; Marshall Tucker; The Byrds; Conway and Loretta; Loggins & Messina; Derek & the Dominos and The Grateful Dead all released albums that year. What an awesome year for music!

AND PLANTERS PICKS THE BAY CITY ROLLERS!!! What an embarrassment. I may never eat Planters peanuts again. Sorry, I just had to rant.

The video ads have been causing me technical trouble with this laptop to be honest, and to be quite frank, have been a major inhibitor to my use of GW across the board/in all respects. No one was saying anything though so I figured I was the only one annoyed. The "skip" and "close" features don't always work and on this laptop, the entire screen is eaten up with the ad and it still doesn't show the entire thing. PITA!

Yeah, I can still remember those annoying ads before I started using Mozilla without a flash player. Now no ads, no popups, etc.

Ditto Jeff! Do you think it means that planters people wear plaid? I cannot think of the Bay City Rollers without thinking of plaid. The ads are very annoying and are not always easy to get by.

They have locked my computer up and I have to shut down and reboot. I have seen a screen that says ( do you want to give us control of your computer ) Guess where I Village stands on my list? I don't care if they boot me off of this site. Brandon I also have Mozilla. Must have missed some settings somewhere along the line In case they kick me off, It's been nice knowing all you folks.

Why would they kick you off Norm? I don't understand. They sure wouldn't kick you off for what you said above. I've seen 1000X worse with no response. Come to think of it, I never really see any response from them about anything.

To block the ads with Mozilla, first turn your flash player off (this takes care of the ads that move across the screen), and then every time you see an ad, left click on it to get it's address. Then add that address to the exceptions list under Tools, then Options, then Content, then Exceptions. So far all the ads seem to come from just a handfull of addresses, so it doesn't take long to block all the ads.
