ground cover

i live 90 miles north of nashville, fayetteville. i need a ground cover for full sun, fast growing, not great soil, covers completely & is reasonable price as need to cover 400+ sq ft will probably mix in grasses and others to add different texture. i am covering where i put a storm shelter so raised about 3 ft, any help would be appreciated

Well I got to throw out my favorite ground cover once again!!

Gaultheria procumbens or common name Wintergreen

This plant you can plant it anywhere in pretty much any kind of soil as long as the soil is acidic. If you can grow a maple in your soil you can grow this ground cover.

All parts of the plant are edible!! So if your kids (assuming you built a storm shelter of 400sq ft for a family) decide to be out in the yard and eat the pretty red berries this little plant produces then it is ok!!!

By the way did I mention it is evergreen!!

Old and confused but if my memory serves me right 90 miles north of Nashville is in Kentucky.

LOL, You ain't that confused Norm.

I bet Hellmg meant 90 miles south of Nashville. Fayetteville is about 90 miles south of Nashville.

ok so i forget my directions in tn, i have come up with another idea prairie grasses & wildflowers, Stocks seed farms has some good looking mixes. thanks for your input
