What fruit tree grows best?

Near the memphis area and wondering what dwarf fruit trees would be best to plant in my back yard. I am considering granny smith apple and nectarine....but am ify about the nectarine. I have heard it can be difficuly? What fruit trees have you had the best success with? I would also love to have one that flowered at some point.

Twenty years ago when I moved here I planted peach,plums, apples, pears and cherries. Today I only have apples and a pear tree. I live in Lauderdale county, about 60 miles from Memphis. Hope that answers your question. Peaches will grow with more spraying than I want to do.

Thanks Norm. What have you heard about necatrines? My hubby doesn't like pears for some strange reason....that would be a hard sell. I have recently heard nectarines are hard to grow though. hmmmm, hard decision here. Thanks for your input!
