Hi everyone. I'm Karen

I've been registered for a while now but don't know if I've ever posted til now.

I live in the Knoxville area , enjoy all kinds of gardening but my first interest is with ponds, koi, and water gardens.

My most recent attraction is to lotus plants. I now have 15 different types of lotus.

I'm hoping some of you can teach me more things about gardening. I mainly just stick 'em in the ground and hope they grow. ;)Most do well.

Hey Karen. Welcome to the TN Forum!

You've never posted before, and we look forward to lots of posts from you. Sometimes this forum gets in bad need of new posts / ideas / contributions.

15 types of lutus...that's very interesting. You should post pictures sometime.

    Hi Karen,
    I am also new here.
I have never grown a water garden, but I certainly love the looks and smell of the lotus. I would like to see pics, too!

You all may wish I had not signed up since I LOVE talking about gardening.

Many of my lotus are new but already have at least 2 leaves on them. I'm hoping for a bloom or two from them this year.

The others I've had for a few years now include Empress, Joyful Eyes, Mrs. Perry D. Schlocum (hope I'm spelling all of these right ;) )and Perry's Giant Sunburst (yellow).
Someone gave me two last year that I have no idea what colors they will be.

So how do you post pictures here?
    Or can we?

One of the easiest ways to provide your photo to be embedded into a post is to upload it onto an image hosting site such as Photobucket, Flickr, etc. That should be pretty straight forward, and the individual sites will give instructions on how to get your photos uploaded to their site when you sign up.

Once your picture has been uploaded, find its web address by right clicking on the image and copying the image location. Some sites may even provide your image's address in a text box below the photo for your convenience.

Let's say, as an example, that the address of the picture you want to post is http://somepicturesite.com/yourpicture.jpg

To embed the picture into a post, use the command:
    img src="http://somepicturesite.com/yourpicture.jpg">;

If your picture is too large to fit nicely into the text page, you can add a width attribute. The command with the width attribute would looks something like:
    img src="http://somepicturesite.com/yourpicture.jpg"; width=600>

Note that I had to use special characters to get the commands above to show up here without turning into pictures, but you can use them as shown (with the correct image web address, of course).

Thanks, Brandon, I'm going to try that. Is there way to add them directly from my computer?

About lotus, I love them too but the only time I had them they absolutly took over my pond. They were potted but escaped and, no kidding, when we pulled them out we had to use a tractor and I bet that plant weighed 500 pounds!

Here is a link that might be useful: blog

Wow, I bet that lotus was a beauty.
Yep, you need to divide them every couple of years so they don't take over.
Mine have their own ponds or pots to grow in. I don't have any lotus in the koi pond.

"Is there way to add them directly from my computer?"

Not unless your computer is a server. You can post pictures to Gardenweb galleries (picture forums) and then link them to your post here in this forum, but there are drawbacks (the biggest of which is probably the limit on image size/resolution). If you want to try this method first, just check out one of the Gardenweb galleries at either (seems they couldn't decide on just one way) of the link below.
