Granted, it doesn't seem terribly complicated!...but perhaps there are some not-so-obvious little issues that should be avoided when implementing this strategy.

It just occurred to me:
I am about to have my septic tank bypassed and have a line attached to the city system. Frankly, that septic tank is in an optimal location for capturing my home runnoff!

With an electric water pump, I could use that tank as my personal reserve.

It sounds like prep work could be nasty, but what an optimum solution in terms of being: 1) already installed, 2) not taking any room on the property, and 3) a huge water capacity!

The plumber is going to pump it out, remove the tank and back fill the hole. Seems like a waste given that I am seeking a convenient way to store water. In addition, I am having to pay a good bit of money to have the removal done.

Why not pump it out (empty it), sterilize it, and use it as a reservoir?
