What needs to be covered in a freeze?

We're getting this nasty freeze tonight, and I guess the only ones I'm worried about are knockout roses and hostas. Should I try to protect them somehow?

I would only worry about marginally-hardy or not-hardy stuff. Vegetable garden plants (that shouldn't have been put out yet anyway) may be in danger.
