Well, I found a large posting about the stink bugs and from that decided to just pull up the squash, cucumbers and pumpkins which they had covered. I'll try to deal with the problem that way and just buy my squash and cucumbers from the store again this year.

We heard from a relative that's lived around here forever that Diatomaceous Earth is great to use for bug killing of many kinds (even beneficial ones so don't get on flowers to avoid killing those). It's also called Shell Flour - a tiny, ground up little life form.

If you buy the Food Grade DE, it's safe even for the vegetable garden. A search those two terms will get you lots of info. It's very reasonably priced, even with shipping.

There's a disperser you may need for it (don't inhale this stuff - you'll see when you read about it). The disperser we got gave my boyfriend blisters and was hard to turn. We'll be sending it back for a better one but DE seems to be worth the effort.

Thank you for the tip, but we decided to pull up and discard the attracting plants. I just don't want to have to put poison stuff on my garden, so I'll just enjoy the things that don't attract.
