Stink bugs anyone?

Last year I developed a real stink bug problem in my tiny garden. These are like love bugs, but have the the shield shaped body and are what I always thought was stink bugs. At full growth they are about 1/2" in size. They lay eggs all over the squash and cucumbers and tiny stink bugs hatch and then there are hundreds and hundreds of them. This year I've tried to spray them with some supposedly vegetable safe bug spray (Sevin liquid) which seem to kill the baby ones, but I can't be sure about the adults because they keep moving and they blend in so well with the pine straw I have covering that I can't see if they've died or not. Can anyone offer any suggestions? I wanted to have a pesticide free garden, but this is impossible with these bugs. Please help!
